  I've been here 5 or 6 times recently and each time I've had a wonderful experience.
  
  First off, the food is delicious, freshly made and prepared with care. The menu is a bit different from most other places but doesn't try too hard to impress (the way some higher priced cafe's attempt to do). I'm not a "foodie" by any means but it is so nice to find a place that has a unique menu that makes you salivate as opposed to the typical, boring menu you'll find in most sandwich places. I just love how the experienced staff takes such pride in each item they create. I was told by one of the owners that all of the ingredients are FRESH which is pretty obvious when you taste the food. The soups are made fresh too (NOT powdered mixes like most places)!
  
  Second, the atmosphere is simple yet warm and cozy. Centered around a stone fireplace (which works and adds quite a nice effect by the way) the quaint marble bistro tables and original wood floors give the place a local, tasteful and classic feel.
  
  Third, the service is wonderful. Betty (one of the owners) and her husband (the chef) always greet their customers with a smile and so do their staff. You get the feeling they really want you there and that they care about your business. Unfortunately, you just don't get this kind of service and care in most places. For this alone, I'll make the trip and go out of my way.
  
  So this all sounds great - right? And I'm sure you're thinking, "well all of this must come at a price premium" - right? The answer is WRONG! The prices are so reasonable at this little gem that I'm amazed it isn't jam packed all the time.
  
  By the way, I've brought several people to On A Roll and all have echoed the same sentiment. If you want to preserve a good thing in the Madison area, stop by On A Roll for a sandwich and bowl of hot, fresh soup. You'll be glad you did.

  recently received a catered lunch from this deli. nothing special or worth having again. sandwiches had more bread then ingredients. considering the area and that the options for food are plentiful, I would spend my $$$ elsewhere.
